The Picture of Dorian Gray
In September 2019, I directed a new opera by Oliver Bowes based on Oscar Wilde's novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, in the Bedford Pub in Balham. This was my first foray into fringe opera and my debut as a Director in London. I set the opera in a timeless dream space, focusing on the internal corruption of Dorian's soul throughout. The opera was very successful, drawing a large audience to this small venue, which usually puts on folk gigs and comedy nights.
