University of Bristol Singers
For the last two years I have had the honour of being a member of the University of Bristol Singers, singing as a bass. The choir is the most prestigious choral ensemble at the university, with auditions being notoriously ruthless as only 32 positions are available to be filled. In my first year with the choir, under Dr David Bednall, we performed much contemporary repertoire as well as a number of classics from the English Choral Tradition. Particular favourites from my first year were Arnold Bax' Mater Ora Filium and Frank Martin's Mass for Double Choir. This year, under Elinor Cooper, we've explored a vast range of repertoire from the 16th century all the way to modern a capella works. We were due to have a series of amazing concerts throughout this year, however many were cancelled due to the coronavirus crisis. In response, and in order that we keep singing, I offered my video editing skills to Elinor and we worked together to produce a series of multi-track videos, for the enjoyment of our following.
I look forward to singing again some day soon when the health crisis allows.
